Véra Oerder investigates the impact of mesoscale air-sea interactions on the biogeochemical activity in the Humboldt Current Region. A regional ocean-atmosphere coupled model with a biogeochemical compound (WRF-ROMS-PISCES) will provide sensitivity experiments to study the respective impacts of current-induced and the SST-induced air-sea interactions both in the coastal and the offshore region. A particular attention is paid on the nutrient and plankton transports and the primary productivity.

This event seeks to increase public awareness and to make known the wonderful world of the oceans through a series of talks by three IMO doctoral students and the deputy director of Outreach.
French physicist Vera Oerder has recently joined the Millennium Institute of Oceanography (IMO) as a postdoc. Dr. Oerder studied oceanography and climatology at the Pierre et Marie Curie University.
